Job description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct care to Goldensun’s members as dictated by their Individual Service Plans. This role provides quality care and assistance with daily living activities, personal care, safety skills, and behavioral support. Additionally, DSPs will support members in attaining their goals and objectives and guide them in leading independent lives & integrating into the community. The Direct Support Professional plays a critical role in advocating for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities and ensuring that Goldensun is effectively fulfilling its mission and serving the needs of its members.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

● Follow the Individualized Service Plan as written and provide appropriate supervision and support for up to three members based on member needs and ISP goals, both at home and in the community.

● Foster a positive environment that nurtures members’ needs, self-expression, and goals. Support them in making healthy decisions and choices to promote their physical, social, and emotional growth.

● Coach and assist members with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, walking, eating, etc.

● Promote independence and facilitate members’ inclusion in the community and engagement in social activities

● Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with Goldensun’s policies & procedures

● Support members in keeping homes clean, removing spoiled food, and maintaining all routines to provide a safe and healthy living environment.

● Assure the safety and overall well-being of the residents through a clean, organized, and collaborative living environment. Develop opportunities for member exercise, recreation, nutrition, and general healthy living.

● Attend regular meetings with your supervisor and team as necessary

● Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications -

● 18 years of age or older and a High School Diploma or equivalent

● Prior experience providing direct care for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities preferred

● Able and willing to work on-call, nights, weekends, and outside of normal working hours to respond to emergencies or to otherwise meet the needs of our members and their families

● Problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to problems calmly, independently, and without direct supervision

● Maintain a clean driving record in accordance with Goldensun insurance guidelines.

● Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record and proof of insurance per Goldensun's insurance guidelines

● Must possess a level 1 Fingerprint card. First CPR and article 9 training - *Will help obtain if needed*
