We are seeking a highly skilled Network Architect to lead the design and implementation of secure, resilient network infrastructure for the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance (ASRR) system under a government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

Position Overview

The Network Architect will spearhead the design, implementation, testing, configuration management, and documentation of secure network infrastructure for the ASRR system. This senior role ensures adherence to contractual obligations and ANSI/EIA-649-1 configuration management standards. The architect will maintain lifecycle network integrity, support functional and physical configuration audits, and ensure traceability of engineering changes across all operational environments, delivering robust, mission-critical connectivity for airborne and ground-based systems.

Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture Design & Implementation

  • Lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure, high-availability network infrastructure supporting airborne and ground systems, ensuring compliance with U.S. DoD and international security and interoperability standards.
  • Install and configure enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls, VPN appliances, wireless access points, encryption devices, and network monitoring systems.

Cybersecurity & Accreditation Integration

  • Align network designs with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and international security guidelines, applying DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and SDIP-29/1 electromagnetic protection standards.
  • Support system accreditation objectives by integrating secure network configurations and documentation into the RMF process.

Technical Documentation

  • Provide documentation for government and partner nation reviews, ensuring compliance with program requirements.

Configuration & Change Management

  • Maintain network configuration baselines and IP addressing schemes, managing engineering change documentation such as Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), and Notices of Revision.

  • Conduct regular assessments to maintain compliance with information protection policies.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers, program managers, U.S. Government stakeholders, and foreign government personnel to ensure seamless integration and secure operations across multinational networks.
  • Serve as a technical lead, fostering effective communication and coordination among cross-functional teams.

System Validation & Testing

  • Develop and execute test procedures for system verification and site acceptance, ensuring deployed networks meet design, security, and operational requirements.
  • Support system integration and validation testing at CONUS/OCONUS sites.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience with advanced industry certifications may be substituted.

Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on network engineering experience in government or similar enterprise/tactical environments, with a proven track record of designing and managing mission-critical networks. Demonstrated progression to senior-level roles with increasing responsibility.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Layer 2/3 networking protocols, including Multicast, STP, VLANs, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, GRE over IPsec VPNs, and QoS implementation.
  • Proficiency in DoD cybersecurity frameworks, RMF, DISA STIG compliance, and integration of Type 1 encryption devices (e.g., TACLANEs).
  • Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise-class network hardware and software.

Certifications:

  • Required:
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • Must possess DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CISSP, or CASP).
  • Preferred
    • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)

Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, adept at engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and optimization capabilities for complex network environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or international government programs, particularly with NATO-member nations.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD engineering documentation and CDRL deliverables (e.g., DI-IPSC, DI-SESS, DI-MGMT formats).
  • Proficiency with network simulation/modeling tools, Microsoft Visio, or other technical documentation platforms.
