If you're passionate about meaningful work and want to be part of something bigger than yourself, Caris is where your impact begins.** **Position Summary** The Clinical Engineering Technician - Liquid Profiling is responsible for helping support the Molecular and Product Development departments by investigating issues and repairing equipment. **Job Responsibilities** + Drafts preventative maintenance procedures and makes corrections/changes to existing procedures. + Attends training sessions on instrumentation to learn function, basic programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting. + Identifies, troubleshoots, and recommends repair and spare parts. + Is computer literate in basic operating systems and applicable software programs. + Maintains and expands professional and personal skills. Expands knowledge of medical technologies. + Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. + Performs and/or coordinates vendor and contractor scheduling for equipment installation, repair, preventative maintenance and training. + Performs initial acceptance inspections on new equipment and completes all required paperwork. + Performs modifications and upgrades on devices as directed by the manufacturer or department leader. + Performs or coordinates Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualifications (PQ) and Function Verifications (FV) of equipment following installation, repair, or preventative maintenance. + Compile, analyze and submit data for review, according to equipment/procedure specific acceptance criteria, following IQ, OQ, PQ or FV. + Assists in ensuring department compliance of routine preventative maintenance tasks. + Repairs and troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment, when appropriate. + Maintains an accurate record of all work performed. + Responds to emergency situations in clinical areas and provides support as required and requested. Interact with staff whenever appropriate. + Treats all patient information strictly confidential. + Schedules and perform preventative maintenance inspections on instruments and completes all associated paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. + Is knowledgeable of applicable safety and electrical limits for health care equipment. + Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. + Support compliance with all applicable regulatory and standard requirements (CLIA, NYS, CAP, ISO, etc.). + Accepts and performs other duties as assigned. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in science field. + 1-2 years of experience in repairing and/or troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. + Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control procedures and regulations. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working. **Preferred Qualifications** + Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, dead-driven environment. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Proven attention to detail with effective organizational skills. + Effective interpersonal and team skills. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet for business use. + High degree of care and attention with strict adherence to defined clinical testing protocols. + Demonstrate clear ability to explain previous experience. **Physical Demands** + Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time. + May have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment. + Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test. **Training** + All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee. **Other** + This position may require periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays. **Conditions of Employment:** Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, credit check ( applicable for certain positions) and reference verification.
