The Community and Workforce Business Services Coordinator assists with supporting and enhancing business initiatives within Pima County. This grant-funded position is responsible for coordinating various programs and services that align with economic and workforce development, assisting with local employer workforce needs, fostering partnerships with community stakeholders, and performing specialized tasks in support of designated programs within the Community & Workforce Development Department. This role focuses directly on coordinating activities that compassionately address the needs of individuals requiring assistance in Pima County. The ideal candidate will possess supervisory, organizational, and communication skills along with community engagement experience.
The position is 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday and may require assisting with some weekend activities.
Essential Functions :

Coordinates and participates in the activities of a specialized Community & Workforce Development program;
Conducts program activities with a focus on providing urgent and compassionate services to individuals in need, in collaboration with other County departments and community partners;
Contributes to the development of program goals and objectives, and ensures these goals and objectives are met;
Provides support and participates in daily activities essential to achieving program objectives;
Researches, analyzes, and reports on program activities;
May coordinate and/or supervise daily staff activities;
May perform necessary managerial functions in the absence of management;
Works to keep programs on schedule, within budget, and functioning smoothly;
May write and submit grant applications, prepare solicitations related to program activities, and review proposals.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration or a field closely related to the program area, AND one year of experience working in health, human services, or a similar field, as determined by the Appointing Authority at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
One year of experience with Pima County as a Community & Workforce Specialist I or II or similar Pima County position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications : (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Minimum two (2) years ofexperience in a supervisory or management role.
Minimum two (2) years of experience with direct coordination of workforce development activities.
Minimum two (2) years of experience with work-based learning or job development activities.
Minimum two (2) years of experience with programs such as Adobe and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Selection Procedure :
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information:
Licenses and Certificates : Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice Items : Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
