Job Description
THE ROLE
Avocado is currently looking for a Material Handler to be part of the Mattress Building team . This role will report to the Production Manager .
The Material Handler is responsible for the movement storage and preparation of raw materials and components used in mattress production. This role ensures that the necessary materials are available at the right time and in the correct quantities to support production efficiency. The Material Handler works closely with the production and warehouse teams to maintain a smooth workflow minimize delays and help achieve production targets.- Note on Location : Here at Avocado Green Brands we treasure teamwork and working together in this role you will be working on-site at one of our Fullerton locations.
- Note on Pay Transparency: The pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.44 Hourly.
WHAT YOULL BE WORKING ON
- Transport raw materials (foam fabric springs) to production workstations.
- Organize store and label materials in designated areas.
- Load/unload materials from trucks containers or shelves.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overages.
- Track and document material usage for accurate inventory.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks and assist with audits.
- Provide materials to production teams to ensure continuous flow.
- Collaborate with operators to meet production schedules.
- Assist with machinery setup by supplying raw materials.
- Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Operate forklifts pallet jacks and conveyor belts safely.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of materials to prevent damage.
- Inspect materials before transport to meet quality standards.
- Report defective materials to quality control or supervisors.
- Maintain clean organized work areas for safety and efficiency.
- Keep material storage areas tidy with proper labeling and stock rotation.
WHAT YOU BRING
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in material handling or warehouse operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Forklift certification and knowledge of safety regulations are required.
- Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear like safety glasses.
- Must be comfortable working in an environment with machinery noise.
- Lift: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more) stand for long periods and perform manual labor.
- Operate: Constantly operates a computer and other office machines such as printers and tablets and forklift.
- Communicate: This role frequently communicates with other team members to update on the status of a task.
- Movements:
- Must be able to move throughout the warehouse to access different machines.
- Must be able to frequently move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
