Water Reuse Leader

Position Purpose:
The Water Reuse Leader is a specialized technical leadership position focused on advancing water reuse initiatives and optimizing membrane-based treatment systems across wastewater facilities in the Phoenix, AZ region. This role combines deep expertise in advanced water treatment technologies with operational excellence, specifically concentrating on water reuse systems and membrane technologies including MBR, RO, UF, and MF systems. The Water Reuse Leader is responsible for analyzing performance data from regional wastewater treatment plants to identify optimization opportunities, conducting technical and commercial evaluations to drive cost savings, and implementing performance improvement strategies that enhance plant efficiency. This position requires leading cross-functional teams to troubleshoot membrane system challenges, develop best practices for membrane fouling mitigation and lifecycle management, and ensure compliance with water reuse regulatory requirements. Working in an office environment with regular plant visits, the Water Reuse Leader reports directly to the Hub Manager and serves as the technical expert for both potable and non-potable reuse applications, driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights and hands-on membrane system expertise.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyze operational and performance data from wastewater treatment plants across the region to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Optimize wastewater treatment processes and projects through data-driven insights and technical expertise.
- Conduct comprehensive technical and commercial evaluations of wastewater facilities to identify cost savings and efficiency gains.
- Monitor and analyze performance trends to proactively identify operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement performance improvement strategies to enhance plant efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with plant operators and management teams to troubleshoot problems and implement best practices.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on plant performance, cost savings initiatives, and optimization recommendations.
- Benchmark facility performance against industry standards and regional peers to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead cross-functional teams in implementing process improvements and operational excellence initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while maximizing operational efficiency.

- Office environment with regular visits to plants.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment operations, with specific focus on water reuse systems and applications.
- Extensive hands-on experience with membrane technologies including MBR (Membrane Bioreactors), RO (Reverse Osmosis), UF (Ultrafiltration), and MF (Microfiltration) systems.
- Proven track record in membrane system design, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with advanced water treatment processes for potable and non-potable reuse applications.
- Strong background in process optimization and performance analysis of membrane-based treatment systems.
- Experience with membrane fouling mitigation, cleaning protocols, and lifecycle management.
- Technical expertise in data analysis and performance monitoring of membrane treatment facilities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for water reuse projects and membrane system compliance.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) License in Arizona or California Preferred.
- Wastewater Operations License in California Preferred.
