Director of Preconstruction
ViaSun Corporation is seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Preconstruction to lead our preconstruction initiatives and operations. This critical role involves overseeing the entire preconstruction process, from project conception through bidding, ensuring that all projects align with company objectives and client expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction knowledge, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the preconstruction team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to project estimators and managers.
- Develop and implement best practices in the preconstruction process, improving efficiency and enhancing project delivery.
- Collaborate closely with executive management, project managers, and clients to establish project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
- Review and analyze project specifications and contract documents to ensure thorough understanding and accurate estimations.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for potential projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to facilitate successful project outcomes.
- Oversee the preparation of high-quality, competitive bids and proposals, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
- Implement training and development programs for the preconstruction team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact estimating and preconstruction processes.
- Participate in contract negotiations and ensure that agreements reflect the best interests of ViaSun Corporation.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management regarding project forecasts, metrics, and preconstruction performance.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, demonstrating the ability to drive results and lead teams to success.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CCM, PMP) are a plus.
- 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on preconstruction and project management.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing teams and driving project success.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, contracts, estimating practices, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in construction management software, estimating tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively prioritize multiple projects.
