Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM

Overview

The State of Arizona Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) is seeking a Construction Project Accountant to oversee the financial aspects of multiple construction projects. This hybrid role (mostly remote) requires exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and communication skills to ensure compliance, financial integrity, and budget control.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Accounts Payable (AP) Management: Process vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, and material purchases. Verify POs, deliveries, and invoices for accuracy.


• 
  Job Cost Accounting: Track daily costs, maintain job cost reports, assist with variance analysis, and monitor committed costs and change orders.


• 
  General Ledger & Month-End: Post journal entries, reconcile project accounts, and assist with month-end close, accruals, and WIP schedules.


• 
  Compliance & Documentation: Maintain project financial records, ensure internal control adherence, and assist with audits.


• 
  Grantee & Grant Support: Collaborate with grantees, the Governor’s Office, and handle grant transfers and expense tracking.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Accounting ERP/software programs (e.g., AZ360)
  


• Experience with eCivis or similar grant management platforms


• Strong understanding of project management accounting and disbursement tracking
  


• 
  5–10 years of experience (or 5+ years of direct experience may substitute for a degree)

Highly Desirable

• Knowledge of process improvement in project management


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  


• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment

Primary Skills: eCivis Platform, Accounts Payable Management, Purchase Orders, AZ360 or other ERP systems
