Psychiatric nurses are strong patient advocates ensuring patients are treated with dignity and respect and that they receive care in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. We provide holistic care in a stigma-free environment to patients who have a full array of psychiatric disorders. Nurses love the collaborative interdisciplinary approach, teamwork, and structure a robust therapeutic program provides. The Psychiatric RN provides direct supervision to Mental Health Workers, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Health Unit Coordinators and plays a significant role in training future nurses. As an academic medical center and part of the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, teaching is one of our passions, and we support many staff on their educational journey. Valleywise Behavioral Health Center has inpatient facilities in Mesa, Phoenix, and Maryvale, and is one of the largest providers of inpatient behavioral health services in Arizona. We serve adolescent and adult populations. The adolescent unit is located in Mesa with a 14-bed unit specializing in caring for patients between the ages of 13 to 17. We have a large medical staff of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, with dedicated physician leadership at each of our inpatient facilities. Hourly Pay Rate: $35.00 Qualifications Education :

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Prefer a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.

Experience :

• Prior nursing experience is not required.
• New graduate nurses or candidates with less than six months experience as an RN or an RN that has not practiced at the bedside for more than two years are eligible to apply to the program.
• Prefer LPN, Nurse Extern, or other nursing-related experience.

Specialized Training :

• Must attend and successfully complete the Valleywise Health Nurse Residency program by meeting all the requirements specified in the program within six months of starting the program.

Certification/Licensure :

• Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license, or valid compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
• Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
• Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center.
• CPI certification training will be provided upon hire/transfer to the department, must be renewed every two years, and must be obtained before providing patient care.
• Must be able to provide at least one year of employment after successfully completing the Nurse Residency Program.
• Must provide recent "official" transcripts with grades up to the semester before application with a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must be able to provide two letters of recommendation.
• Evidence of community service or membership in community-oriented organizations is preferred.
• Must meet all conditions set forth in Nurse Residency Program requirements.
• Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32, and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
• Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
• Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer successfully.
• Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Bilingual is preferred.
