Liberty Awnings and Shades is looking to hire an assistant to our seamstress in our sew room.

Core Responsibilities

• Fabrication & Sewing: Operate industrial, single-needle, and two-needle sewing machines to assemble custom marine canvas (biminis, covers, enclosures) and awnings.
• Layout & Cutting: Read work orders, measure, layout, and cut materials including heavy fabrics, acrylic canvas, vinyl, clear plastics, and screens.
• Installation & Fitting: Perform on-site field measurements and install finished covers or awnings, including working with hand tools and ladders.
• Repair & Maintenance: Repair, troubleshoot, and modify existing covers or older products.
• Quality Control: Ensure high-quality finishes, proper seam strength, and accuracy to avoid project failure.
• Machine Care: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of industrial sewing machines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 1–3 years of industrial sewing experience, preferably with marine-grade canvas or upholstery.
• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, hot knives, and hand tools.
• Measurement Skills: Ability to work with tape measures and blueprints for precise, high-quality production.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in high-stress environments.
• Communication: Ability to work well in a team and communicate with customers regarding custom designs.

Hours: M-F, 6:00 - 2:30pm

Starting Pay: $18, with a 90 day review.

Benefits: Health, vision, and dental insurance after 90 days. PTO, Sick Pay and Holiday Pay

Physical Requirement - Must have attention to detail - Must have good corrected vision. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure and perform the operations with common and decimal fractions and using common measuring tools.
