The University of Arizona, Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) is seeking a part time (.80 full-time equivalent) psychiatrist. This position is responsible for providing psychiatric services for currently enrolled UA undergrad, graduate, and professional students seeking care at Campus, Health and Wellness (CHS), as well as providing psychiatric consultation for CHS medical providers and CAPS counseling staff.
The CHS was the first fully accredited college health service in the nation and in the Princeton Review, the CHS has been ranked in the top 4% for Best Health Services for the past twelve years. Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric services, including diagnostic work-up, medication evaluation and follow-up, as an integral part of the CAPS team.
- Work collaboratively and provide cross coverage for other members of the psychiatry team.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to CAPS non-medical practitioners.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to CHS primary care staff.
- Provide crisis intervention and brief therapy on a limited basis.
- Supervise psychiatry residents and/or psychiatric nurse practitioner interns as needed.
- Demonstrate excellence in clinical skills and professional judgment.
- Work with students in crisis situations, as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comfort in working collaboratively with other psychiatric staff on shared patient responsibility.
- Sensitivity and commitment to working with students of diverse and intersecting ethnic/racial, gender, and sexual
- identities, as well as international students and students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Clear dedication to working within a cross-cultural framework.
- Maintain electronic records of health care transactions that can be followed by other practitioners providing coverage.
- Maintain compliance with state licensure requirements for continuing medical education and specialty board maintenance of certification.
- Efficacy in delivery of healthcare services via telehealth when needed due to public health conditions.

Minimum Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school of medicine or approved school of osteopathic medicine; completion of residency in psychiatry; board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
- Current licensure by the Arizona State Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners, or will obtain licensure by date of hire.
- Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
- Eight years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising MDs/DOs/NPs in a training capacity.
- Experience in medical education and program development for psychiatry residents and psychiatric nurse practitioner interns.
- Alternative language competency.
- Clinical experience in a University Counseling Center setting.
- Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacological skills.
- Training and experience in delivery of outpatient psychiatric services in a system setting.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
