Marriage Preparation Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Marriage Preparation Coordinator plays a vital role in guiding engaged couples through the process of preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. This position serves as a compassionate and organized liaison between couples, clergy, parish staff, and volunteer wedding coordinators, ensuring a smooth and spiritually enriching experience. The role reports to the Director of Evangelization and may also assist with other sacramental supports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for newly engaged couples entering the marriage preparation process.
- Manage intake procedures and maintain accurate and confidential marriage preparation files.
- Coordinate and facilitate FOCCUS sessions and schedule required seminars.
- Oversee the scheduling of weddings and rehearsals in collaboration with clergy and volunteers.
- Ensure timely completion of sacramental records and registry entries following weddings.
- Prepare and send necessary documentation to local civil authorities, transmittal letters to the baptizing parishes of the newly married and entry of the marriage into our sacramental records.
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers involved in wedding planning and rehearsal logistics.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, administrative and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with Catholic sacramental practices, especially the Sacrament of Matrimony, is necessary.
- Experience in ministry, event coordination, or administrative roles is a plus.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree. Certification or license from an accredited source, or its equivalent experience related to this field. Or, a minimum of 3 years of experience in marriage ministry, parish ministry, or pastoral care.
· Practicing Catholic in good standing, with a strong understanding of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church on marriage and moral teachings.
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage virtual training platforms.
· Deep understanding of Catholic theology on the Sacraments of the Church.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting of at least 20 lbs. and filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand, and move small totes or boxes as necessary.
