Please note: this is a hybrid role working at least 2 days in office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) with pay range of 24-29/hr DOE
Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support and maintain payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

To thrive in this role, you must be able to:
- Oversee and ensure timely execution of payroll calendar deadlines, including full cycle multi-state weekly, bi-weekly payroll processing, ad hoc, and off-cycle payments.
- Oversee payroll related processing between the payroll area and other departments, operations, human resources, information technology, etc.
- Process bi-weekly payroll in Paylocity.
- Set up and maintain data in Paylocity.
- Ensure all payroll-related tax filings are completed timely and accurately, including the setup of new accounts with various state agencies as required.
- Work with tax agencies and third party to resolve tax issues.
- Review and assist on updates to policies, procedures, and controls to ensure federal/state/local tax compliance.
- Makes suggestions for change and/or process improvements.
- Act as the first point of escalation for any complex payroll queries from management and employees.
- Performs research, troubleshooting, and prepares reports.
- Ensure all timecards are approved and ready for processing for payroll, communicating with managers as needed.
- Ensure set up and maintain needed tax accounts for state and other required jurisdictions.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution – preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional - strongly preferred.
- 2 – 3 years’ experience and management of payroll processing for multi-state full cycle payroll.
- Experience with HRIS payroll systems (required).
- Experience with Paylocity preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll reporting requirements for fringe benefits, tax filings and best practices.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite required - intermediate Excel skills preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communications, active listening, problem-solving and team building skills.
- Strong computer skills utilizing Word, Excel, or related accounting packages as necessary.
