Program Overview

About The Role

System Management Branch. Part of DoDIN-A operations focus on multiple dispersed, independent/intra-dependent systems performing multiple functions (Operating System (OS), Hardware (HW), database, software applications, etc.) that are interoperable with other elements or systems to perform a function as part of a larger, more complex system. The GCC operates, monitors, sustains, and secures Enterprise directed systems throughout the GCC AOR and internal services.
• Operating System Administration. The GCC operates, maintains, secures, and sustains OSs supporting numerous local and Enterprise services. Performs the underlying operating systems, desktop, and help desk support functions:
• Virtualization Management / SAN / Backup. The GCC operates, maintains, secures, and monitors Virtual Infrastructure (VI) internally and within Enterprise virtual systems owner environments. The GCC uses various cloud and cloud computing services. Most virtual environments are Private Cloud services; however, many services are moving to the cloud, and require the same support as described. Perform the following functions in support of the Government to implement, deploy, operate, maintain, and sustain VI environments, large storage devices, and backup/restoration systems/services/process/procedures using maximal automation where possible. Perform the following Virtualization functions:
• Storage Area Network (SAN) Administration: Install, configure, maintain, update, and patch virtual/physical storage for GCC and Enterprise-managed services. Provide recommendations on improving current SAN posture. Resources usage shall be assigned based on local guidance, change requests, or virtual Enterprise monitoring system.
• Backup and Restoration Administration: Operate, maintain, secure, and monitor backup solution for the GCC AOR. Provide restoration and disaster recovery support for all critical internal systems and services. Provide a sustaining process to backup those resources deemed necessary based on Government requirements or best business practices. Process must be IAW all authoritative sources for recovery timelines and restoration. Perform periodic testing of the backup solution by restoring complete systems, folders and/or files, based on guidance from Government, system owner, or best business practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD
• DoD Secret clearance is required for this role
• Certifications: VMware Certified Advanced Professional AND MCSE: Core Infrastructure (still acceptable) (current MS-offered equivalent is acceptable); DCWF Code 451 Advanced (Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security or CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) or Federal IT Security Professional-Operator-NG (FITSP-O) or GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies (GFACT) or GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
• Ability to perform shift work

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
