Federal Superintendent - Tucson
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Federal Superintendent - Tucson to lead field operations for a federal VA Hospital construction project in Tucson, AZ. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a seasoned construction superintendent with deep federal project experience, strong healthcare construction knowledge, and a proven ability to manage complex site operations in occupied or mission-critical environments. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, government representatives, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and inspectors to deliver a high-profile federal healthcare project from mobilization through final completion. Key Responsibilities - Direct daily field operations for a federal VA Hospital construction project, including site logistics, phasing, sequencing, and subcontractor coordination.- Lead subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements.
- Manage short-term and long-term project schedules while monitoring manpower, productivity, inspections, punch lists, and turnover activities.
- Maintain strict adherence to EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, quality standards, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and government representatives to resolve field issues and maintain project progress.
- Maintain accurate project documentation using Procore and other construction management platforms. Compensation and Benefits - Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Lead on-site execution of a federal VA Hospital construction project from mobilization through final completion.- Manage safety, quality control, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, inspections, and turnover activities.
- Coordinate construction activities in an occupied healthcare environment while minimizing disruptions to hospital operations.
- Proactively identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability concerns, schedule impacts, and project risks. - Minimum 10 years of Superintendent experience managing commercial construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years of federal construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with federal agencies such as VA, USACE, NAVFAC, or DoD.
- Proven success delivering healthcare, hospital, medical, mission-critical, or similarly complex construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of federal construction requirements, procedures, documentation, and site expectations.
- Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations.
- Experience managing complex schedules and multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft 365, and construction management software.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and field coordination skills.
- Ability to pass federal background screening requirements. Preferred Qualifications - VA Hospital project experience.
- Occupied healthcare renovation experience.
- Design-build project experience.
- Familiarity with USACE RMS.
- Quality Control certification or quality control field experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- Healthcare Infection Control experience.
- Interim Life Safety Measures, ILSM, experience.
