Job Summary Overview

The Product Manager is responsible for developing, launching, and optimizing financial products and services (and enhancements to existing products and services) that meet the needs of our members, aligning with the strategic goals of the organization. This role blends member insights, business analysis, market research, cross-functional collaboration, and some system administration to create and manage competitive financial solutions. The specific focus for this role will pertain to the existing and future payments and fraud/risk initiatives and processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of financial service products, from ideation to execution and enhancement.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to set and document long-term direction and goals for products.
  • Create and manage product roadmaps for assigned products, with quarterly revisions.
  • Define and track product KPIs, ensuring solutions deliver business impact and customer value.
  • Coordinate with marketing to ensure campaign frequency and scope is sufficient to meet or exceed KPIs.
  • Collaborate on pricing models and ensure products are priced competitively.
  • Coordinate enhancements through the change management process, completing required documentation, coordinating testing and closing to ensure quality and that intended results are met.
  • Serve as technical expert of assigned systems to understand capabilities and impact of changes.
  • Conduct market and member research to identify product opportunities, understand member needs, and ensure competitiveness of products.
  • Guide the product development process, ensuring it aligns with the product vision and strategy.
  • Develop and present business cases for new products or enhancements.
  • Stay informed about regulations, competitors, and emerging fintech trends.
  • Ensure products meet risk, legal, and regulatory standards through proactive coordination.
  • Would act as a SME or key player during any potential merger/acquisition conversions.

Position Required Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field or 3–5 years of experience in Payments (Wires, ACH, Cards, Real-Time Payments, Zelle, etc) within a financial institution. Strong understanding of retail banking products and customer behavior. Analytical mindset with experience in using data to drive decisions. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills. Experience with agile methodologies, product road mapping, and backlog grooming. Ability to lead cross-functional teams with influence and collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with digital banking platforms and mobile product development.
  • Understanding of API’s and the interconnectivity between systems.
  • Deep understanding of the existing payments rails (ACH, FedNow, Wires, Cards, etc).
  • Knowledge of future payments landscape (Digital Wallets, Cryptocurrency, Stablecoins, etc).
  • Understanding of payment fraud/risk and remedies.
  • Knowledge of payment regulations and restrictions and experience with implementing changes to remain compliant.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations (e.g., FDIC, Reg Z, Reg E, Reg D, BSA).
  • Experience with design thinking or customer journey mapping.
  • Energetic problem-solver and strategic thinker with a customer-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working at a financial institution (credit union) within the payments area or segment.

Experience and knowledge in the following vendors/systems: Symitar, Silverlake, Alacriti, Acuity, EPN, VSoft, Federal Reserve/Fedline, The Clearing House, PCBB, EWS, Verafin, Vertifi, Visa DPS, Alloy.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
