Junior Underwriter

Consumer Underwriter (Hybrid) Are you a high-energy Underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment? Join our team in a dynamic role where "turning and burning" applications meets precision risk assessment. We are looking for sharp, analytical professionals to manage a diverse consumer loan portfolio, including Boats, RVs, Credit Cards, and Unsecured Personal Loans.

The Role: A Day in the Life From the moment you log in at 8:00 AM, you are in the action. You will balance a steady queue of loan applications with real-time support. While there is no direct phone work with members, you will manage 5–6 "Click to Chat" sessions daily, assisting internal reps while simultaneously processing your worklist. Top performers in this role excel at multitasking, processing one application every 8–10 minutes.

Candidate Profile

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in Consumer Underwriting (Credit Cards, Personal Loans, etc.). Experience with Banking/Credit Union alumni is highly preferred.

• Skills: knowledge of Credit Risk, Regulatory Compliance, and Income Verification (including self-employed/complex tax returns).

• Tech Savvy: Proficient in Outlook, Slack, Zoom, and credit reporting tools.

• Adaptability: Ability to pass three core certification exams (Lending, Tax, and Exception Authority) following a 2-week training program.

Schedule & Logistics

• Location: Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote).

• Hours: Shift falls within 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

• Weekends: Requirement to work one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) with two consecutive days off during the week.

Responsibilities

In this role you will, within defined guidelines and framework, review and underwrite consumer loan and credit card applications. You will apply understanding of established written risks and compliance policies, guidelines, and procedures and regulatory requirements when evaluating loan attributes.
