Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the cathodic protection (CP) and Corrosion Control industry. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical acumen, capable of building long-term client relationships and delivering tailored corrosion mitigation solutions across sectors such as oil & gas, waterworks, and energy infrastructure.

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and lead generation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, and procurement teams to understand project needs and propose CP solutions.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and bids tailored to client specifications.
• Engages with clients and potential leads to determine their service requirements; recommends products and services that correspond to those needs.
• Lead contract negotiations and close deals in alignment with company goals and compliance standards.
• Manages programs and projects from inception to completion
• Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets, resolving issues that may arise during execution.
• Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads.
• Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.
• Ensures client satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise.
• Maintains communication with existing and previous clients, alerting them to new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
• Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
• Document all customer contact and information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

• Cathodic Protection II certification with 3 years of CP experience, OR
• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience are required.

Knowledge/ Skills /Abilities

• Knowledge of water and oil and gas utilities
• Mechanical and Electrical aptitude a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Responsible and self-motivated
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical and Work Environment Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Requires travel (in-state, out-of-state, and overnight)

Other Requirements

• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record per insurance requirements, and evidence of insurability
• Pass a background check
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screening and physical as well as being subject to random drug testing throughout employment
