A Day in the Life

Before the sun heats the tarmac, you’re on the floor setting the day’s pace. You stage precision cutting tools, shrink-fit assemblies to spec, and confirm offsets on the pre-setter. Machinists arrive to perfectly organized stations because you’ve implemented 5S standards that stick. Throughout the morning, you collaborate with programmers and operators to tweak tool paths, extend tool life, and keep spindles cutting. By early afternoon, you’ve analyzed consumption trends, placed replenishment orders, and recycled worn carbide—leaving the shop ready for the next shift and your afternoon wide open.

What You’ll Own

• Tooling Preparation & Setup: Order, stock, stage, sharpen when appropriate, and set cutting tools for advanced CNC work
• Collaboration: Partner with engineering programmers and machinist operators to define optimal tooling strategies
• Precision Methods: Use tool pre-setting and heat shrink equipment to maintain tight tolerances
• Technical Interpretation: Apply blueprint reading and GD&T expertise to verify tooling aligns with spec
• Inventory Leadership: Maintain critical tool inventory for zero-downtime operations
• Lean Practices: Implement and uphold 5S; drive carbide recycling initiatives
• Continuous Improvement: Analyze tool life, performance, and cost to maximize value and reduce waste

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years in precision manufacturing with deep CNC tooling knowledge
• Expert blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
• Proficiency with tool setting and heat shrink equipment
• Self-directed, detail-obsessed work style
• High school diploma/GED

Preferred

• 3+ years in AS9100 aerospace/defense environments
• Experience with carbide and high-performance cutting tools
• Microsoft Excel skills for inventory tracking
• Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
