Your impact

At Jacobs, we do not settle – always looking beyond to raise the bar and deliver with excellence. We apply our expertise and knowledge as we look into the future with great optimism and focus. We don’t settle until we give our best and know that we’re making a difference.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer in Tempe, Arizona to provide technical leadership and oversight on some of the most advanced industrial facilities in the world. Join us and you will have the chance to work on semiconductor manufacturing projects and other state-of-the-art industrial facilities.

As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, your responsibilities include engineering and design oversight for facility power distribution systems, grounding, and lighting, as well as occasional retrofit of existing building systems. You will prepare technical specifications and construction documents, ensuring alignment between drawings and specifications, and act as the Electrical discipline lead or Quality Control reviewer. Additionally, you will interact directly with clients, owners, and contractors, supporting construction activities on-site and participating in proposals to identify solutions to problems clients didn’t even know they had.

This position requires a broad perspective and the ability to recommend best practices, improve processes, and lead functional teams. You will work independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations, and serve as a trusted resource for quality and innovation. If you are ready to take ownership of high-impact projects and influence the future of electrical engineering design, we want you on our team!

Bring your curiosity, talent for multi-tasking and collaboration, and extreme organizational skills and we’ll help you grow, pursue, and fulfill what drives you – so we can make big impacts on the world, together.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Arizona (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • At least 8 years of experience in engineering design of building electrical systems
  • Electrical design experience for semiconductor or mission critical facilities
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE standards
  • Extensive design experience with electrical power system equipment/components, such as switchgears, transformers, panelboards, generators, UPS, etc.
  • Experience with power system modeling software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Team lead experience
  • Ability to work onsite (hybrid) in Tempe, AZ

  • Senior technical leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multidisciplinary teams
  • Passionate about buildings and construction
