Position Overview

We are hiring an experienced Forklift Operator to work in our steel yard handling heavy structural materials.

This is not a standard warehouse forklift position . Our team handles long, heavy steel (10–40 ft) in an outdoor environment with extreme heat conditions. This role requires precision, awareness, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

• Prior forklift experience required ( heavy material experience preferred )
• Strong control and precision when handling long or oversized loads
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety and accuracy
• Team-oriented with strong communication and coordination skills
• Takes initiative and stays productive throughout the day
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent

What You’ll Do

• Operate a sit-down Combilift forklift (high-capacity equipment up to ~10,000 lbs)
• Load and unload customer trucks safely and efficiently
• Pull and stage orders based on tickets
• Handle a wide range of materials including tubing, beams, plate, bar, and sheet metal
• Band and bundle materials for customer pickup and delivery
• Maintain organization of yard inventory, racks, and storage areas
• Assist with manual loading/unloading when needed
• Use equipment such as chop saws for basic material processing
• Work closely with team members to coordinate loads and maintain workflow

Work Environment & Expectations

• Outdoor work environment — must be able to work in Arizona heat (100–120&degree;+)
• Physically demanding role — lifting, walking, climbing on/off equipment throughout the day
• Fast-paced with peak periods (morning rush, delivery deadlines)
• Strong coordination required — multiple forklift operators and loaders working together at all times
• Orders must be completed accurately and on time, especially for scheduled deliveries

Safety & Accountability

• Strict adherence to PPE requirements at all times
• No phone use while operating equipment
• Follow all yard safety rules including speed limits and pedestrian awareness
• Accuracy is critical — mistakes can:
  • Delay customer jobs
  • Cost the company money
  • Impact customer relationships
• Repeated errors, carelessness, or unsafe behavior may lead to disciplinary action or termination

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent walking and standing throughout the day
• Climbing on and off equipment regularly
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Schedule & Pay

• Full-time: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Rotating Saturdays required
• Overtime as needed based on workload
