Senior Hardware Engineer (Sustainment Engineering)
Kforce has a client in Tempe, AZ that is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to play a key role supporting and recovering complex high-speed digital, mixed-signal, and UHF RF circuit boards used in complex communication systems. This position focuses on advanced board-level troubleshooting, technical recovery, sustainment, and operational life extension of mission-critical communication hardware. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and recover complex embedded hardware systems at the board, subsystem, and component level
- Analyze high-speed digital, mixed-signal, power supply, and UHF RF circuits
- Troubleshoot systems containing FPGAs, DSPs, CPUs, DDR memory, Ethernet, SATA, PCIe, and related technologies
- Assist with end-of-life component replacement and hardware sustainment strategies
- Develop technical documentation, recovery procedures, and engineering processes
- Serve as a technical expert for deployed communication boards and embedded systems
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- 7+ years of experience with high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuit engineering
- Hands-on digital hardware design skills
- Strong debugging and failure analysis experience with embedded hardware systems
- Proficiency reading schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills
