Description

The primary role of the Welder Trainee is to assist the Welders in making appropriate welds to fabricate or repair bins and/or truck parts.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Assist in performing welding and fabrication repairs on bins, trucks or other equipment.
2. Assist with safety checks on welds and fabrications on bins, trucks or equipment.
3. Learn different welding techniques and processes.
4. Learn to utilize maintenance software program to document work.
5. Observe and comply with hazardous waste and material handling and disposal procedures and regulations as set forth by local, state and federal environmental and health agencies.
6. Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
7. Maintain clean, safe and organized work space.
8. Maintain collaborative working relationship with drivers, operators and coworkers and communicate timeline for downed vehicles.
9. Participate in external, Department and Company-wide trainings to increase skill sets.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

• Welding and fabrication principles and practices.
• Tools, equipment and systems used in the practice of welding and fabrication.
• Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.

• Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.
• Proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability.
• Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
• Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.
• Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
• Think independently and creatively to problem solve.

Education, Training & Experience

1. One year of welding and fabricating welding.
2. Experience in the resource recovery industry a plus.
3. Certifications a plus.
