Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride application and sealant application.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies that improve oral health conditions.
• Conduct oral health assessments and provide information on preventative care to dental patients.
• Collaborate closely with dentists to plan and implement individualized care for patients.
• Maintain patient dental records; documenting dental history or chief complaints and dental findings.
• Advise patients on the importance of maintaining proper oral hygiene and preventive oral care.
• Implement appropriate radiographic diagnostic procedures.
• Participate in patient screening procedures that include assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, and head and neck inspection.
• Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
• Current dental hygienist license in the state where the job is located.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
• Proficiency in dental software and computer applications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centric environment.
• Commitment to learning about new techniques and procedures in dental hygiene.
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Demonstrable abilities in motivating patients to improve and maintain their oral health.
