GaN has an opening for one Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer supporting the US Army Operational Test Command (USAOTC) Intelligence Electronic Warfare Test Directorate (IEWTD) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona for the Test Technology Support Services (TTSS) contract. RF engineer will conduct evaluations, feasibility assessments, threat
investigations and research, and trade-off analysis of evolving threat system capabilities, RF threat waveform development, new technology products, ideas, or requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide RF engineering evaluations, feasibility assessments, threat investigations and research, and trade-off analysis of evolving threat system capabilities and RF threat waveform development.
- Design instrumentation system upgrade and modification plans.
- Configure, modify, fabricate, and incorporate system modifications approved by the Government in accordance with the configuration control plan.
- Integrate expanded instrumentation or new systems capabilities.
- Test, assess and report the operational capability, interface, and life cycle sustainment of newly acquired or modified software and hardware for instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Validation and Verification. Plan and conduct independent validation and verification testing and support acceptance testing for externally developed instrumentation systems, software, and equipment
- Instrumentation Software. Provide software engineering services for software development, programming, documentation, and maintenance of existing instrumentation systems and equipment.
- This position requires a talented RF systems engineer that could work with a multi-disciplined team to perform RF engineering analysis to guide all phases of the design process, including requirement development, design, and test and evaluation.
- The engineer will be required to assist the Government with requirements definition, analysis, modeling and simulation (M&S), hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), simulations, development, integration activities, and demonstrations and tests
- The RF systems engineer will assist with scheduling, planning, budgeting, and managing system engineering activities and development for hardware and software products
- In addition, the RF systems engineer will assist in the development and maintenance of program execution and advocacy briefings to internal and external organizations
- Provide RF subject matter expertise
- Perform analysis and M&S to establish and verify RF system concepts
- Establish HWIL simulations as necessary to validate equipment functionality and system concepts
- Derive and maintain system technical requirements
- Participate and provide technical guidance during the system design activities
- Provide oversight and/or perform complex integration activities as necessary
- Assist with the development and execution of system tests and demonstrations
- Define and document cost and schedule implications for proposed design changes
- Exercise independent and professional judgment under moderate supervision in solving cost and scheduling problems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Can identify and communicate risks and provide mitigation strategies.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
- Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
- Ability to use general office equipment such as phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
- Ability to follow a process.
- Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
- Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
- Must be able to communicate issues to management.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to multi-task.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field
- Proficient with technical engineering management activities
- Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- U.S. citizenship with an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Minimum 5 years experience supporting RF-related projects
- Proficient with RF theory, system engineering, and system development
