Job Summary
MCC is seeking a full-time Library Specialist to work on Sundays as well as the evening shift Mondays-Thursdays. This person will be a pillar of the closing process along with other library employees and College Police. This person will work on the service desk interacting with patrons and behind the scenes. Job duties may include but are not limited to inter-library and intra-district loans; checking in/out, renewing, and processing holds for library materials; resolving library patron account issues in SIS; troubleshooting library technology such as library computers, printers/copiers, & media equipment; locating materials in the stacks, performing stack maintenance, assisting with collection development, and upholding library policies.
Essential Functions
40% - Provides direct customer service at the circulation desk using an integrated library system; troubleshoots library technology - computers, printers/copiers, & media equipment; assists with locating library materials, stack maintenance & collection development; adheres to and reinforces library policies; compiles usage statistics
25% - Fulfills Interlibrary loan (ILL) requests using the ILLiad system; monitors and compiles ILL statistics
25% - Manages the processing, purchasing, receiving, and tracking of library serials and periodicals
10% - Helps plan and participate in special projects and outreach programs; serves on college/district committees; pursues professional growth; performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of experience in library support services such as library information resources, circulation services and equipment coordination.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and three year of experience in library support services such as library information resources, circulation services and equipment coordination.
Desired Qualifications
A. Two (2) or more years of in-person customer service experience demonstrating evidence of increasing job responsibility
B. Two (2) or more years of paraprofessional library experience using an integrated library system such as Symphony, Polaris, or Alma
C. Work experience processing library materials (serials, course reserves, acquisitions, technical services)
D. Project experience working both independently and on a team
E. One (1) or more years of experience using ILLiad and WorldCat
F. Two (2) or more years of experience using computer skills (email, downloading, file maintenance), Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and/or office technology (printers/copiers, scanners)
G. Experience working closely with a multicultural and diverse population
