Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is responsible for maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting a wide range of electrical systems and infrastructure within assigned facilities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety and energy efficiency, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clients and maintenance teams.

What This Role Involves

The Journeyman Electrician will operate, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and longevity. This position emphasizes proactive maintenance, accurate documentation, and minimizing downtime through effective troubleshooting and repair strategies. While electrical expertise is essential, a working knowledge of other trades is expected to successfully complete daily and weekly assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Duties

• Operate, maintain, and service electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in commercial and industrial facilities.

• Plan, layout, install, test, maintain, and repair electrical apparatus, control equipment, and wiring systems for light and power distribution.

• Work with complex systems including generators, panels, automatic transfer switches, variable frequency drives, transformers, circuit breakers, and alarm systems.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in motors and related equipment; perform repairs, upgrades, and new installations as required.

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings.

• Collaborate with clients and maintenance staff to determine safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant solutions.

• Safely operate a wide variety of hand tools and shop power tools.

• Complete all required documentation accurately and on time using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

• Perform incidental and associated work necessary to complete job assignments.

• Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining proactive communication with management.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

• Strictly adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and company policies.

• Assist with work of other trades as needed.

Physical Work Conditions

• Ability to work in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, and vaults.

• Ability to work on rooftops and at elevated heights.

• Availability for on-call duties, overtime, and emergency response as required.

• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.

• Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, and overhead work.

• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.

• Ability to drive for extended periods.

• Ability to climb ladders (300 lb. weight limit) while carrying tools weighing approximately 20 pounds.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license, maintained in good standing.

• Journeyman Electrician license and/or applicable state license required.

• High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent.

• Minimum of 4 years of electrical trade school or equivalent training, plus 5 or more years of hands-on electrical work experience.

• Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and local electrical codes.

• Excellent teamwork, work ethic, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Physically capable of performing all job duties, including operating tools, working at heights, lifting heavy materials, and driving a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of overall MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) system design and application.

• Experience managing work orders and utilizing CMMS technology.

• Previous experience in a service-oriented role within commercial facilities.
