Level Descriptions:

• Level 1 – Must be able to achieve many objectives of this position. Requires some amount of timely supervision to ensure the proper tasks are being accomplished and that communication is adequate, timely, in the correct manner (i.e. verbal, written, email, etc.). If in Special Systems, the individual had a good understanding of at least one type of system within this division as well as holds a low level NICET or other industry certification.
• Level 2 - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level 1 positions. The individual, if working for the Special Systems division, has an ability to work on multiple Special Systems deliverables and has obtained mid-level NICET or other industry certifications.
• Senior - Highly experienced in the position. Advanced awareness of the technical needs of controls system programming, integrations to other systems, and very sophisticated HVAC strategies if working in the control field. If working for the Special Systems division this individual has a deep understanding of the many systems installed and maintained within the division. The individual usually has a high level NICET or other certification and is active in the industry. Provides mentoring and direct supervision when required on projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform service and inspections based on NFPA 10, 12, 17, 17A, and 2001
• Perform basic troubleshooting and describe them to owners and service managers for repairs
• Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
• Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building codes.
• Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
• May perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
• Must currently hold an active NICET Certification
• 3+ years of related work experience in commercial kitchen hood inspection and service required
• 3+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, inspection, and service.
• Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.  
• Experience and expertise including but not limited to: 
  1. Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of fire extinguishers, kitchen hoods, and emergency/exit lights
  2. Knowledge of NFPA 10, 12, 17, 17A, and 2001
  3. Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  4. An understanding of computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products.
  5. Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  6. Ability to obtain all required certifications
  7. An understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes is beneficial.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in fire suppression, pipe fitting, and other related fields and specialties.
• 5+ years of experience inspecting and servicing commercial kitchen hoods.
• 5+ years of experience working in security and life safety systems or related.
• An Advanced understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes.
• Certifications with an advanced understanding such as NICET, CSA, and Backflow (Inspection and Repair)
• An advanced understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints

Essential Functions:

• Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
• Be able to lift up to 75lbs.
• Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
• Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
• Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
• Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
