Job Title: Senior Mobile Engineer

Job Type: Contract to hire (4 - 6 months) or Direct Fulltime

Job Location: Salt Lake City, UT or Phoenix, AZ or Remote (Only for local candidate)

Work Schedule: Onsite or Remote

Location: Remote or Salt Lake City, Utah or Phoenix, Arizona (They prefer Salt Lake City or Phoenix, but Remote is allowed)

Additional Notes:

• They need a person who can work with offshore teams, has strong communication, such that they can explain technical concept to other team mates. Technical hands on experience and knowledge is an absolute must, but we can focus on the two technologies below.

• The key skills are TypeScript and React Native. GraphQL is a plus.

• Fintech experience is a plus, but even if they don't have it, if they have developed apps and done payment processing integration or authentication, or two-factor authentication that will work too.

• Avoid candidates who had very short tenures at companies. They don't want flaky candidates, but people who are willing to stick around for the long-term.

• Please ask candidates to list all the apps they have developed and provide links to them in the appstore. When interviewing they will be going deeper into their experiences specifically with those apps, such as what they did exactly in the project.

• Also please ask them if they will be comfortable live coding in TypeScript. During the first interview. They will provide a live coding enviornment and they will have to share their screen and code a solution to the problem. It should typically take 30 - 45 minutes to solve the problem if they are competent.

• Additionally they will be screening for OTC alignment, meaning have they worked with offshore developers and are they comfortable with that. Communication skills are really important as well.

• People have failed interviews because they used chatgpt or other things, they need trustworthy people not cheaters. They should be knowledgeable and have the credentials to show it. Not someone for example who has worked on React, but says they can learn React Native. They should already know React Native and TypeScript and be ready to go.

• The apps they developed should have been developed from scratch not whitelabeled apps that came from a template using tools like Shopify for example. Please ask them if they developed apps from scratch or not.

• They have an urgency so prefer CTH, but they are open to FTE. For FTE though, candidates must do an onsite interview,
• This is a critical role. This person needs to have previous experience working with offshore developers, and a multicultural team. Their team is in US, Costa Rica, and India. For the mobile development a lot of the team is in India. Good communication skills required.
• Fintech experience is a plus not a must.
• The Manager has high standards.
• Technology: They are looking for React Native developer with GraphQL, Node.js, Next.js who has previous experience developing deploying secure applications on both the appstore and the playstore.

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer with expertise in React Native, TypeScript, and GraphQL to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly mobile applications.

As a senior engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing GraphQL-powered APIs, ensuring seamless integration between frontend and backend services. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to create a world-class mobile experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript.
• Build and optimize GraphQL queries and mutations for efficient data fetching and state management.
• Collaborate with backend teams to define GraphQL schemas and ensure seamless API integration.
• Implement performance optimizations, caching strategies, and real-time updates using GraphQL.
• Work with UI/UX designers to build responsive, pixel-perfect user interfaces.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues using tools like Flipper, React DevTools, and Chrome DevTools.
• Deploy and maintain apps on App Store and Google Play.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
• Stay up to date with React Native, TypeScript, GraphQL, and mobile development trends.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional mobile development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with React Native and TypeScript.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience of Strong hands-on experience with GraphQL (Apollo Client, Relay).
• Deep understanding of React Native components, hooks, and state management (Redux, Context API).
• Experience in writing GraphQL queries, mutations, and subscriptions for real-time updates.
• Proficiency in consuming and optimizing GraphQL APIs for mobile applications.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using GraphQL playgrounds (GraphiQL, Apollo Explorer, Postman, Insomnia).
• Hands-on experience with mobile app deployment (App Store, Google Play).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile development.
• Experience with performance optimization, animations, and accessibility best practices in mobile apps.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with native Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift) development.
• Familiarity with Firebase, AWS AppSync for GraphQL backend solutions.
• Experience with GraphQL federation and schema stitching.
• Knowledge of Monorepo setups (Nx, Turborepo) for React Native projects.
• Exposure to CodePush, OTA updates, and mobile security best practices.
