Job Summary:
Under direct and indirect supervision, A Drafter's job is to create technical drawings based on given specifications to ensure that they meet required safety and structural standards. The Drafter's responsibilities include utilizing architectural drawings, AMI drafting standards, project specifications, and reviewing material & equipment requirements and/or limitations to produce manufacturing drawings for our shop and production team.
- Reports to the Drafting Supervisor
- Classification: Nonexempt, Regular, "At Will" Work Status
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with PM and estimator to understand customer requirements
- Develop manufacturing drawings of products in AutoCAD illustrating constructability, job site requirements, installation requirements, safety requirements, and structural integrity.
- Specify & understand limitations for material and hardware used on the drawings
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure the drawings are correct
- Compute mathematical formulas to find correct dimensions
- Create drawings using the AMI drafting setup (drawing templates)
- Follow customer requirements and input to make revisions on drawings
- Learn to operate new technologies as they are developed and implemented.
- Always represent the company in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
- Work both independently and cooperatively in a team setting and show respect for coworkers.
- Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required to participate in continuing education or seminars.

- Knowledge of necessary regulations (AWI, ADA, OSHA, Allegheny Safety/Construction Standards, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and required supplemental documentation
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Associate degree in drafting from technical school or AutoCAD certificate preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD software (2-3 years minimum)
- 2-3 years of millwork drafting experience preferred (required for remote drafters)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- For in-office personnel - Moderate noise levels from other team members or employees.
- Frequent client, vendor, and interoffice personnel interaction.
- Hearing - Must be able to communicate with others by phone, online chat, video call, and in person.
- Vision - The ability to see details at close range as required for business software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- As assigned - Lead Drafter
