Sr Buyer

Who we are looking for: We are looking for a positive, professional, who is honest, detail oriented, organized and who takes initiative and pride in their position within the Company.
What would the job be like? The person in this role will plan, direct, or coordinate the purchase of supplies, materials, and products necessary for the manufacturing of dietary supplements that meet company and customer quality specifications, price points, and timelines while compiling data and preparing reports as needed for internal and external customers. Serve as a mentor and leader to team members, fostering their development and contributing to overall team growth and success.
Job Responsibilities - to ensure the quality and safety of the product will include, but not be limited to:
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures subject to approval by Management.
- Review product specifications to maintain a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
- Locate and evaluate vendors, to determine product quality, availability and terms of sales and monitor the performance of existing vendors to determine needed changes.
- Study sales records, inventory levels of current stock, and analyze market and delivery systems to develop strategic purchasing programs that to maintain reasonable levels of inventory.
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers (contracts subject to approval by Management), vendors, and other representatives.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price for the needed quantities and time frame.
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions, merchandise costs, and vendor performance.
- Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to unacceptable, undelivered, or goods that arrive late.
- Provide information or indication of problems to Management or Quality Assurance.
- Provide guidance and training to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Actively identify opportunities for team members' professional development and recommend relevant training or resources.
- Act as a point of contact for team members seeking advice or clarification on complex tasks or procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5 years of experience with purchasing/material management, contract negotiation, experience within dietary supplement industry is preferred
- Knowledge of packaging components a plus (plastic bottles/caps, corrugate, chip-board, labels, and film)
- Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain best practices and purchasing principles including cGMP's
- Proven success in saving money through purchasing
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communications and organizational skills
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects at once
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel in particular and have a thorough understanding of inventory software, time keeping or other business related software
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Establishes strong relationships with executives, staff, clients, outside agencies, organizations and individuals
- Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization
