The Buyer/Planner provides purchasing and scheduling support for the remanufacture of automatic transmissions. Managing part costs and maintaining a strong sense of urgency are essential in this role. This position supports all stages of the Teardown–Inspect–Build–Test–Ship process to help deliver rebuilt transmissions with the best possible cost, quality, and lead time .
Key Responsibilities include:
× Request quotes and place orders for parts based on lists provided by teardown and inspection teams.
× Source parts with a focus on cost, quality, and lead time to support efficient builds.
× Accurately enter purchase orders, delivery dates, and order status into the ERP system.
× Use daily backlog reports to track part availability and support production flow.
× Ensure timely receipt of materials and update order status in the system as needed.
× Work closely with the production floor to stay aligned on schedules, part needs, and any build issues.
× Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of internal components.
× Generate purchasing reports and communicate key updates to relevant teams.
× Take ownership of your area, staying proactive in solving issues like delays, shortages, or scheduling changes.
Requirements:
× Background in manufacturing in materials planning/production support roles.
× Experience with LEAN practices; familiarity with Kanban systems is a plus.
× Strong mechanical, automotive, or aerospace background; ideally in fast-paced, custom or low-volume environments.
× Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
× Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., entering POs, managing inventory, tracking status).
× Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams.
Monday thru Friday 6:30am to 3pm
