Our internship program is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America. These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August. Apply Today!

Where You Will Work
Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our hybrid internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person regularly at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or our site locations. Interns participating in our hybrid internship program will be expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance – 50 miles one-way – of the company’s corporate offices to ensure availability when meeting attendance/collaboration is needed. Interns living more than 50 miles away would be required to relocate and would be eligible for travel and housing assistance.
What You Will Do
Under close supervision, perform accounting and financial activities on accounts and funds in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Freeport-McMoRan policies and procedures. The position requires the prioritization of substantial workload, multiple projects and specific deadlines; ability to successfully complete delegated tasks.
- Assembling interrelated financial statements, reviewing, and verifying the recording of expenditures, entries and postings to general ledgers, verifying books and bank statement reconciliation, monitoring and developing monthly reports of revenues and expenditures for projects and meeting mandatory scheduled deadlines.
- Assisting operations personnel and cost coordinators with financial analysis and reporting.
- Reviewing and interpreting financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations.
- Assisting in analyzing financial operations and recommending enhancements to policies or procedures Assisting with reviews and recommendations of new or enhanced automated financial statements.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Accounting/Finance or closely related field; OR
- Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Accounting/Finance or closely related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Highly accurate and detail oriented.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

- The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.50-$25.00/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear, and see.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workday.
