Early Childhood - Teacher
Summary We are looking for a dedicated preschool teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where young children can learn and thrive. The ideal candidate will plan developmentally appropriate lessons, support each child’s growth, and build strong, positive relationships with families and colleagues. This role also includes mentoring assistant teachers, ensuring a well-prepared classroom, and actively participating in school events and professional development. Duties Essential Functions
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports exploration, creativity, and the development of new ideas.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that encourage children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth through both individual and group experiences.
- Build and maintain respectful, professional, and collaborative relationships with children, families, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of the preschool program.
- Prepare and maintain an organized classroom environment, ensuring materials, safety equipment, and learning centers are ready for daily use.
- Communicate regularly with families through conferences, daily updates, and participation in school events to support strong home-school connections.
- Collaborate with colleagues to model best practices, mentor assistant teachers, and contribute to a positive and professional team culture.
- Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements, including accurate documentation, safety procedures, and ongoing professional development.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and schoolwide celebrations and programs as an active member of the preschool community.
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED and minimum of 6 months of professional child care experience.
- Must clear full background check and have a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
