Senior Roadway Project Engineer
Job description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Roadway Project Engineer to join our transportation engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex roadway, transit, and infrastructure projects that improve mobility, safety, and resilience in communities across Arizona.
As a senior engineer, you will play a key role in project delivery, from advanced roadway design to client-facing responsibilities. Youll provide technical expertise, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development while supporting major infrastructure initiatives.
MUST HAVE PE LICENSE!
- This is a massive project : a 12-mile long project featuring 5 interchanges , including a diamond interchange , with a total project value of $180 million .
- Project Duration: 2 years

- Perform advanced roadway and transportation engineering design tasks, including drawings, reports, presentations, and regulatory applications.
- Develop scopes, budgets, and design approaches for assigned projects.
- Lead project coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality assurance for design deliverables.
- Apply advanced transportation engineering principles to solve complex design and construction challenges.
- Support business development through proposal preparation, technical input, and client interviews.
- Supervise assigned project resources, budgets, and schedules in coordination with Project Managers.
- Represent the project in client meetings, maintaining strong professional relationships.
Qualifications:
What Were Looking For- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters a plus).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona (or ability to obtain quickly).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway and transportation engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with roadway, rail transit, or utility impact mitigation design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for client-facing roles.
- Proven ability to work independently on complex projects while also leading teams.
