ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

  • Greets patients and visitors in person or on telephone; answers and/or refers patient inquires, takes messages, promptly has patients sign in for scheduled appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, schedules appointment(s), or direct callers to the appropriate staff member or department.
  • Checks in patients, runs insurance eligibility, acquires patient financial status, collects co-pays and lab fee’s as appropriate or collects fees from patients eligible for the sliding fee scale.
  • Verifies daily transactions. Reconciles cash register receipts daily. Generate reports of all collections, maintain daily logs of reimbursed funds, provides historical references for each.
  • Voids encounters as needed to avoid unnecessary charges.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by helping members of team with workload; collaborates with providers and dental support staff to improve patient workflow.
  • Registers new patients, obtaining vital personal, financial, and other required information needed for reporting purposes. Completes patient information and demographic information fields in the electronic medical record, and scans in appropriate paperwork.
  • Maintains established patients’ charts, verifying forms and demographics at each visit and update on a yearly basis.
  • Assist patients with completing required paperwork.
  • Provides information about discounted services, determines patient eligibility for discounted services, collecting proper documents for eligibility, and properly completes 30 Business Day Applications, used for funding purposes. Refers and schedules appointments with Eligibility Workers.
  • Calls scheduled patients daily to verify upcoming appointment(s), ensures required data for the appointment is available.
  • Monitor daily templates and schedules.
  • Report any patient concerns or complaints to supervisor or via Compliatric reporting module.
  • Actively working with the referral and medical records department, coordinating delivery of records and request for new referrals.
  • Assists in the tidiness of the reception area/waiting room; maintains a safe and welcoming environment, reporting damage of furniture and equipment to supervisor, and monitoring good patient flow.
  • Actively participating in staff meetings and working toward accomplishing department goals and objectives; ability to work well with team members. Accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Adhere to HIPAA confidential practices for patient information; aware of the organization’s protocols and adhering to their requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of SH Policies and Procedures that pertain to department.
  • Monitors and maintain inventory of supplies and forms for registration duties. This position frequently types, faxes and assists various staff in other job duties when necessary.
  • Sterilization of dental instruments and ensures exam room cleanliness as needed.
  • Pre-authorizations for patient treatment
  • Other duties as assigned.
