Salon Store Manager/ Stylist

1. Role Overview

We are seeking a results-driven Salon Manager / Lead Stylist to take full ownership of salon operations. This role is for a decisive, proactive leader who can act immediately, think ahead, and manage the salon independently while maintaining exceptional service standards and team performance.

Availability by phone on off days is required, along with the ability to step in behind the chair, handle urgent supply needs, and resolve operational or technical issues quickly.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily salon operations, opening/closing, workflow, and client experience

• Manage staff scheduling, shift coverage, and real-time adjustments for call-offs

• Recruit, interview, onboard, and manage salon employees

• Lead employee orientation, training, development, and performance evaluations

• Set and track monthly sales, service, and retail goals

• Implement marketing, promotions, and client-retention strategies

• Drive retail performance through merchandising, product displays, and layout optimization

• Ensure accurate service pricing, POS usage, payroll processing, and basic reporting

• Maintain inventory levels for color, chemical, retail, and salon supplies; handle urgent replenishment

• Troubleshoot and resolve system outages (internet, POS, card reader) with vendors or support teams

• Maintain salon cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards

• Act as backup stylist when needed and perform:

  • Hair cutting, shampooing, and blow drying (men, women, children)

  • Color and chemical services (men and women)

• Stay current with industry trends and participate in free Fantastic Sams education

3. Skills, Qualifications, Pay & Benefits

• Experience as a Salon Manager, Assistant Manager, or Senior Stylist
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and people-management skills
• Proactive, forward-thinking, and solution-oriented mindset
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume, walk-in salon environment
• Experience with hiring, training, payroll, and administrative tasks
• Hair cutting, shampooing, blow drying for men, women and children
• Color, Perms and Chemical Services on men and women
• A desire to keep up with current hair cutting and styling trends
• Willingness to take part in free education provided by Fantastic Sams Cut and Color
• Basic Excel and technology troubleshooting skills
• Valid Arizona Cosmetology License
