Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist
Location: Peridot, AZ
Employment Duration: August 4, 2025 - May 23, 2026
Schedule
• Work Days: Monday through Friday
• Work Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Lunch Break: 30 minutes
• Administrative Time: 30 minutes (4:30 PM - 5:00 PM)
Breakdown of Responsibilities
SLP Clinic Treatment Times:
• Wednesday Afternoon: 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Unified School District:
• Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
• Wednesday Schedule: Half-day for schools
• Service Population: Pre-K, primary, intermediate, middle, high school, and self-contained classrooms
Housing
Contractors may qualify for on-site housing. To apply, candidates must:
1. Request housing
2. Complete an application
3. If approved, note that housing is shared and rent will be deducted from pay.
4. Pet Policy: No pets are allowed; if a candidate has a pet, SCAHC housing will not be available.
Transportation
The schools are nearby, with a round trip distance of 5-7 miles. A GSA car is available upon request.
Qualifications
• Experience: At least two years of recent, relevant experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited institution is required.
• Certification: Current BLS certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct assessments to establish treatment needs and evaluate programs for patients, focusing on pediatric patients with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing difficulties.
2. Assess communication skills, including articulation, fluency, voice, and both expressive and receptive language, to identify disorders and recommend treatment plans.
3. Document all relevant events in medical records, including observations, evaluation results, and responses to treatment, in accordance with hospital policy.
4. Develop treatment plans and interventions designed to mitigate the adverse impact of communication disorders.
5. Provide speech-language pathology treatments and instruct patients or family members in the necessary care and exercises as needed.
6. Evaluate charts and report on patients’ progress throughout the therapy program.
7. Educate patients and staff to ensure understanding of communicative and swallowing conditions and treatment plans, including the development of educational materials.
8. Communicate scheduling needs with receptionists and participate in staff meetings for departmental problem-solving and goal-setting.
9. Assist with program development and maintain interaction with community groups as appropriate.
10. Contribute to the writing of the Policy and Procedure Manual and Department Quality Program, among others as indicated.
11. Ensure the availability and maintenance of equipment, materials, and supplies used for assessment and upkeep of rehabilitative services.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms and disorders, as well as principles and practices of speech and language therapy.
• Ability to translate therapy data into meaningful educational activities.
• Proficiency in applying assessment instruments and operating specialized equipment for treating communication disorders, with a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
• Adaptability to changing work priorities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to engage with diverse groups effectively.
• Capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, design software, internet applications, and electronic database health record systems.
• Basic workstation operation skills, including knowledge of functions and components.
• Competence in managing multiple usernames and passwords, as well as familiarity with electronic file-handling using Windows Explorer.
• Computer-related problem-solving skills with the ability to utilize available training and help desk resources.
• A record of satisfactory performance in previous and current employment, supported by positive references.
