Job Summary: The responsibility of the crater is to ensure that product is packaged/crated in accordance with Allen Industries Inc, best practices and procedures.

Essential Functions:

1. Fabricates wooden crates or boxes using woodworking hand tools and powered tools to package or crates various products, signs and materials for domestic and international shipment using company approved packaging and crating procedures
2. Assembles materials using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue and hand tools.
3. Places product in container manually or using hoist
4. Operate some or all of the following tools in a safe manner according to OSHA and company guidelines:
   1. Electric/pneumatic drill
   2. Jig saw
   3. Impact gun
   4. Chop saw
   5. Cordless drill
   6. Table saw
   7. Iron worker
   8. Sander
   9. Variety of hand tools
5. Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company
   1. Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
   2. Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
   3. Informs management of any safety related issues
6. Ensures safety of self and others through proper use and care of equipment/work area
   1. Handles and operates all equipment in a careful and safe manner
   2. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and stores them properly
   3. Keeps all work areas neat and clear of potential hazards
7. Perform the following duties in preparation for product release
   1. Faces: Clean all faces and check for proper color and registry marks. Touch up as needed
   2. Install faces on signage while illuminated (test lit), including the use of drill and rive-nut gun
   3. Faces being installed on ABS signs need to be piloted
   4. Lamps: On all signs, install proper lamps and conduct test lit process. Address any issues with electrical and QC departments
   5. Install base wood on all single face signs for the crating department
   6. Apply UL and Allen Industries stickers to all signs using proper amperage levels
   7. Clean and check all signs for proper construction
8. Manually move and manipulate signs weighing up to 50 lbs. For heavier signs, a forklift is available.
9. Special projects as assigned by management

13. Apply personal safety measures including utilizing the correct PPE

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to perform the following activities:

1. Standing.
2. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
3. Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers.
4. Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
5. Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
6. Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
7. Reaching: Extending hands and arms in all direction
8. Forward bending, squatting, overhead reaching, kneeling/crawling, and climbing
9. Lifting: Up to 70 lbs and team lifting up to 100 lbs
10. Carry and use 5 lb to 10 lb power tools or paint containers very frequently
11. Pushing and pulling
12. Moderate level of hand to eye coordination and dexterity including picking, pinching, holding, grasping and repetitive flexion/rotation

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with overtime as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: No travel required.

Educational Requirements:

1. Highschool diploma or GED.

Preferred Educational Requirements:

1. Technical school training or certification
2. Industry experience

Knowledge Requirements:

1. Forklift certificate
2. Operate electric and pneumatic tools
3. General construction methods
4. Hand tools-vrous
5. Overhead crane certification
6. OSHA general industry standards
