Controller Position Overview

Davidson’s, soon to be 95 years young, is an innovative leader in firearms distribution recognized for its excellence in creative marketing, technology, and world-class customer service. Davidson’s is currently seeking an on-site Controller to join our hardworking Accounting Department in Prescott, Arizona!

The primary responsibilities of the Controller are for the timely review, interpretation, and generation of recommendations related to the Company’s financial performance. The Controller is also responsible for assisting the CFO in planning, organizing, and directing the finance and accounting function as well as measuring its performance.

Controller Responsibilities include

• Assisting the CFO in the preparation of the monthly close to include reconciling and posting activity for accounts
• Reviewing financial results including revenue and expense trends and making recommendations for corrective action to mitigate variances from the budget
• Work with department heads for creation of department budgets
• Shared Oversight of Accounts Payable function and team, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, timely and in accordance with company policy
• Manage the accounting team
• Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and analyzed in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company policy
• Ensuring fixed assets are accounted for accurately and timely
• Workpapers, schedules and/or other documents required for the annual or periodic audit are accurate, complete and submitted timely

Ideal Controller Candidate Would Possess

• The ability to work in an independent manner with little need for direct supervision
• A demonstrated ability for planning and organization skills, handling multiple tasks, and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Conceptual and strategic thinking
• Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Functions and pivot tables preferred
• An ability to communicate in a professional and articulate manner with internal and external contacts at all levels

Controller Position Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, CPA or similar designation is a plus
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Public Accounting or as a Controller/Accounting Manager in a fast paced, hands-on environment preferred
• Distribution, manufacturing or retail background preferred
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software
