Basic Job Functions: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therfore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Transportation Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily logistics execution in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner while learning Nucor's logistics systems, processes, and expectations. This teammate will coordinate routine outbound shipments by truck and rail; secure transportation; build and manage loads; monitor shipment status; maintain accurate shipment information; and communicate with carriers, customers, and internal teammates to support reliable services. Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
- Coordinate routine outbound shipments by truck and rail to support customer and business needs.
- Secure transportation, build and manage loads, and monitor shipment status through completion.
- Maintain accurate shipment information in logistics and business systems.
- Communicate shipment updates with carriers, customers, sales, scheduling, operations and logistics teammates.
- Support freight-related processes, basic reconciliation activities, and outbound shipment tracking.
- Promote safe work practices, learn Nucor logistics expectations, and contribute to a strong team environment.
- 2 years prior traffic and/or sales experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Coordinating Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Communication Skills - The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
- Business Acumen - General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.
- Experience in rail or truck logistics operations.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP, DAT, or similar business systems.
- Experience providing customer-focused support in a logistics, transportation, or supply chain environment.
- Associate degree in Logistics or equivalent work experience.
