Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical Acute Telemetry unit (Tower 8) in Arizona, requiring at least 2 years of telemetry experience and Level 1 trauma background.

Details

• Surgical Acute Telemetry unit (Tower 8) in an acute care hospital setting with Level 1 Trauma designation
• 30-bed unit primarily serving post-op transplant, Whipple, spine, orthopedic joint, and trauma patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5 with a non-patient-carrying charge RN and nurse aide support (2 during days, 1 at night)
• Charting is performed in Cerner EMR
• Telemetry monitoring via Philips; ventilator support includes BiPAP and CPAP
• SWAT RN IV team, RT 24/7, and pharmacy 24/7 are available on the unit
• 12-hour night shifts
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage is integrated into the permanent staff rotation
• Travelers are first to float; float destinations may include Med/Surg Telemetry floors, or sister campuses
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry (Tele) RN experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation
• Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered

Additional Information

• Nurses are expected to be proficient in sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment is conducted on Day 1 of orientation
• Nurses who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the SIMs Lab sterile technique assessment on the second attempt will be ineligible for CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento region facilities for 6 months
• Navy scrubs are required
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required; male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Candidates must have their own personal vehicle
• The unit has a high volume of transplant and Whipple post-operative patients
