Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer in Chandler, AZ. Overview: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer to design, implement, and support data replication solutions within an enterprise IBM mainframe environment. This role focuses on ensuring reliable, high-performance data movement and synchronization between DB2 systems and across enterprise platforms. You will play a key role in supporting real-time and batch data integration for business-critical applications and modernization initiatives. In this role, you will design, configure, and support DB2 data replication solutions across mainframe and distributed systems. Implement and manage replication technologies such as:

• Q Replication
• IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR)
• Change Data Capture (CDC)
• Monitor and maintain data replication pipelines, ensuring data consistency and integrity

• Replication lag
• Data inconsistencies
• Failed or stalled replication processes

• Throughput tuning
• Latency reduction
• Queue and buffer configuration

• Enterprise applications
• Data warehouses
• Cloud and distributed systems
• Work closely with DBAs, application teams, and infrastructure teams to support data integration needs
• Participate in data migration and modernization initiatives
• Maintain documentation for replication configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures
• 5+ years of experience working in IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments
• Strong hands-on experience with: DB2 databases; Data replication technologies (Q Replication, IIDR, CDC)
• Experience configuring and supporting data replication pipelines
• Experience troubleshooting replication issues, latency, and failures
• Strong understanding of: DB2 architecture (logs, tablespaces, datasets); Data consistency and synchronization concepts
• Familiarity with JCL and mainframe utilities
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Experience with IBM MQ (commonly used with Q Replication)
• Experience working in high-volume, enterprise data environments
• Exposure to cloud platforms or distributed systems integration
• Experience supporting real-time data streaming or event-driven architecture
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL, or analytics platforms
• Automation or scripting experience (REXX, Python, Shell)
