Job Summary
The Lead Mitigation Technician assists in the remediation and restoration of properties affected by water, fire, or mold. This role involves hands-on work with drying equipment, containment systems, and controlled demolition, while documenting all work for accurate records. Technicians work under the guidance of a Lead Technician or Field Supervisor to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to water, fire, and mold mitigation projects under the direction of the Mitigation Manager.
- Conduct initial site inspections to assess the category and extent of damage and assist in developing appropriate mitigation plans.
- Perform moisture readings, moisture mapping, and sketching to accurately document affected areas.
- Complete water extraction using truck-mounted and portable extraction equipment.
- Set up, monitor, and adjust drying equipment including dehumidifiers, air movers, air scrubbers, and containment systems in accordance with IICRC standards.
- Monitor temperature, humidity, and grain depression targets to ensure effective drying performance and document daily drying progress.
- Perform demolition in accordance with the approved scope of work, company safety standards, and PPE requirements.
- Apply antimicrobial, disinfectant, and deodorization treatments per industry standards and safety guidelines.
- Install containment systems and implement protective measures to prevent cross-contamination and secondary damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site while protecting unaffected areas of the property.
- Capture detailed photos and maintain accurate job documentation before, during, and after mitigation in DASH, Company Cam, MICA, and other required software systems.
- Obtain required job documentation including customer signatures, work authorizations, and access permissions.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, tenants, and team members to ensure project clarity and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and report potential hazards including structural, electrical, environmental, or safety concerns to management immediately.
- Support emergency response efforts, including after-hours and on-call rotation as required.
- Properly maintain and care for company vehicles, tools, and equipment, ensuring readiness and cleanliness. Report any damage or other issues to management.
- Assist with final cleaning and preparation for reconstruction handoff.
- Participate in ongoing training, certification, and professional development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in water, fire, or mold mitigation (preferred but not required).
- IICRC WRT certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance).
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and various environmental conditions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and participation in an on-call rotation.
