This role provides technical leadership, manages engineering resources, and ensures engineering solutions align with customer requirements, quality standards, and operational objectives.The Engineering Manager works closely with operations, quality, sales, and customers to deliver innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions in a highly regulated, precision manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop the engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementAssign engineering resources to support production, new product development, and customer programsEstablish engineering priorities aligned with business objectives Product & ProcessEngineeringOversee design, development, and validation of piston ring products for aerospace and automotive applicationsEnsure designs meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability requirementsSupport process development and optimization for grinding, lapping, coating, heat treat, and finishing operationsManufacturing SupportPartner with operations to resolve production issues, reduce scrap and rework, and improve throughputDrive process capability improvements through data analysis and root cause problem-solvingSupport implementation and maintenance of standard work, process controls, and engineering documentationQuality & ComplianceEnsure engineering activities comply with AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO, and customer-specific requirementsSupport corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), FMEAs, control plans, and validation activitiesParticipate in internal and external audits as neededCustomer & Program SupportAct as a technical liaison for customers, supporting new business opportunities and ongoing programsReview customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to ensure alignment with internal capabilitiesSupport technical presentations, design reviews, and customer visitsContinuous Improvement & InnovationLead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, delivery, and safetyDrive adoption of best practices in manufacturing engineering, automation, and advanced materialsIdentify opportunities for innovation in product design and manufacturing processesQualifications RequiredBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or related field)7+ years of engineering experience in a precision manufacturing environment3+ years of engineering leadership or management experienceStrong understanding of machining, grinding, lapping, heat treat, and surface finishing processesExperience working in aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing environmentsKnowledge of quality systems (AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO)Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skillsPreferred Master’s degree in Engineering or MBAExperience with piston rings, sealing systems, or high-performance engine componentsLean manufacturing and Six Sigma experienceExperience supporting customer-driven engineering programsKey CompetenciesTechnical leadership and decision-makingCross-functional collaborationCustomer-focused mindsetData-driven problem solvingChange management and continuous improvementStrong organizational and prioritization skillsWhy Total SealTotal Seal is a leader in high-performance piston ring technology serving aerospace and automotive markets.
