Medical Director, Adult Hospitalist Service

Lead the growth, quality, and excellence of inpatient care across our hospital medicine program in Southwest Yuma, Arizona. Onvida Health is seeking a physician leader to serve as Medical Director of Adult Hospitalist Services.
This role is responsible for leading and growing the hospitalist program while improving quality, patient experience, physician engagement, and operational performance. The Medical Director will partner closely with hospital leadership, medical staff, nursing, quality, and case management teams to ensure excellence in inpatient care delivery.
About the Position
• Full-time, Hospital employed Medical Director position
• 80/20 clinical-to-leadership split, combining dedicated program leadership with clinical practice
Requirements
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• 7–15+ years of hospitalist experience preferred
• 3–5+ years of physician leadership experience preferred
• Active, unrestricted medical license or ability to obtain Arizona licensure
Key Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee the Adult Hospitalist Program and set strategic priorities while supporting physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, scheduling, engagement, and team collaboration.
The role will establish program goals, performance metrics, quality standards; drive quality improvement and patient safety initiatives; monitor physician and program performance; and partner with utilization management to improve patient flow and length of stay.
The role will promote a culture of patient-centered care and service excellence, support physician development in communication and patient satisfaction, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance care coordination.
Reporting to the Physician Vice President of Primary Care and Hospital Medicine, the Medical Director will work closely with the CMO, hospital administration, nursing leadership, quality, and case management teams.
