Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Tucson, AZ 85712 (Arizona healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Orientation: 1 day didactic, 2 days area orientation
• Call & Float: Required (float to ED, ICU, Pediatrics, PACU)

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital respiratory therapy experience
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and Adult ICU required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Previous travel respiratory therapist experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Willingness to float to multiple units: Floors, ED, ICU, Pediatrics, PACU
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius (no local candidates)
• 1 supervisory reference required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care in various hospital units: Floors, ED, ICU, Pediatrics, Pediatric ED, PACU
• Administer treatments: MDI, nebulizers, ABGs, bedside PFTs, NIF, VC, trach care, oxygen therapy, CPT (flutter/manual/vest), CPAP, BiPAP, HHFNC
• Assist with intubation, extubation, and ventilator weaning
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and troubleshoot high-pressure alarms
• Transport patients as needed within the hospital
• Participate in didactic and area-specific orientation
• Float to assigned units and take call as scheduled
