Purpose of Role:
This position reports to the Manager of Accounting and Controls and will be responsible for performing complex accounting tasks, preparing financial reporting, conducting financial analysis, and complying with accounting principles, statutory requirements and controls.
Role Accountabilities:
Period-end reporting – Important role in the month-end close process and quarterly and annual reporting, including applying knowledge of accounting policies and procedures in preparing and recording journal entries with appropriate support, performing account reconciliations and analyses (e.g., accruals, PP&E, leases, intercompany accounts), and ensuring that accounting schedules are accurate, complete, clear and timely.
Analysis – Analyze financial information, research appropriate accounting treatments for transactions under IFRS, and prepare accounting memos. Maintain fixed assets and other tracking spreadsheets. Support the cost reporting process, including reconciling with the project controls team.
Processes and controls – Perform and document internal controls on a consistent basis, and support the internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency and provide updates for various initiatives.
Tax compliance – Prepare analyses for tax and statutory compliance, including 1099 reporting, TPT (Transaction Privilege Tax), etc.
Transactions – Record entries in our accounting system (SAP) and support the payment process.
Periodic activities and projects – Participate in periodic activities such as the physical annual inspection of property, plant and equipment. Support IT and other projects that affect the Finance team.
Overall – As a member of the Finance team, help to ensure compliance with IFRS, the internal controls framework and tax compliance. Develop strong working relationships with people from other areas, facilitating strong communication and understanding. Mentor and review the work prepared by other Finance staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Degree in Accounting) or equivalent.
5 years of work experience in accounting/ finance
Expertise in Excel / Google Sheets, with proficiency in other Office/Google software and Adobe.
Proficiency and hands-on experience with financial management software.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Data analysis skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills
Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain financial terms in simple language.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA designation or MBA of Accounting
Experience in the mining or construction industry is highly desirable
Experience with SAP accounting ERP system preferred
Experience working with Internal/External Auditors
Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
US / Arizona tax experience
