🏥 CVICU – Job Summary Breakdown

👩‍⚕️ Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years CVICU experience (required)
• Must have:
  • IABP
  • CRRT
  • Fresh Open Heart (OHS) from OR
• Impella experience – preferred
• Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam (80%) within 2 attempts prior to signing
  • If failed twice → DNU for 6 months (CS AZ & Sacramento)

📍 Radius Rule

• 50-mile radius restriction
• Cannot have worked FT/PT/PRN in past 12 months at:
  • CommonSpirit Health
  • Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI)
  • Dignity Health

🛏 Unit Details

• Unit: CVICU
• Beds: 12
• Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1 (based on acuity)
• Common Diagnoses: AMI, CAD, PVD
• Intensivists: In-house
• RT: 24/7 (department specific, may support ICU)
• No nurse aides
• Charge RN/House Sup: 24/7

• RNs titrate drips – Yes
• Common drips:
  • Dex
  • Propofol
  • Dopamine
  • Neo
  • Epi
  • Levo
  • Insulin
  • Cardene

🖥 Equipment

• Vents
• BiPAP / CPAP
• Vapotherm
• HiFlow
• In-room monitors (Nihon Kohden)
• RNs read their own strips (No monitor techs)

📅 Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts (7–7)
• Weekend Requirement:
  • 2 weekend shifts per pay period
  • Not guaranteed every other weekend
  • Could be every Friday or Saturday based on need
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Call: Yes (Max 3 shifts per 12 weeks per contract)
• Floating: Required to ICU / PCU / MS / Tele (both campuses as needed)
