DO-254 Hardware Assurance Systems Engineer (Electrical)

You start your morning aligning a multi-discipline team on a DO-254 plan of objectives. By mid-day, you’re refining the certification strategy for a new hardware module used in advanced defense training systems, ensuring requirements, design assurance, verification, traceability, and configuration control all connect seamlessly. You close the day reviewing test evidence and drafting a concise report that keeps certification-readiness on track.

What you will do

• Lead DO-254 planning and execution for safety-critical hardware, managing Design Assurance Levels (DAL) across the full hardware lifecycle.
• Author and maintain white papers, verification plans, technical documents, and test reports that withstand audit-level scrutiny.
• Partner closely with systems, hardware, software, and test teams to ensure rigorous requirements, bidirectional traceability, robust verification, configuration management, and certification readiness aligned to DO-254 and related aerospace/defense standards.
• Work with project-specific systems engineering to interpret, decompose, and maintain customer requirements.
• Ensure adherence to applicable industry and military standards.
• Apply, when needed, 3D modeling, mechanical design insight, and structural analysis to strengthen hardware rationale (preferred skill set).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field strongly preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Solid understanding of MIL and DO standards and their application to safety-critical hardware.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and capture the inputs needed to produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of data I/O needs and equipment interfaces.
• Broad engineering foundation spanning digital and analog electronics and mechanics.
• Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot circuits when needed.
• Meticulous problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Clear, confident communication with peers, leadership (managers and directors), program managers, and clients.
• Military service or government contracting experience preferred.
• Willing and able to travel within and outside the U.S.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance required.
